MANILA—President Rodrigo Duterte has designated former House of Representatives speaker Jose de Venecia as special envoy for inter-cultural dialogue.

Acting Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) spokesman, Robespierre Bolivar, said de Venecia will perform his functions for only six months from April to September this year.

Bolivar said this in recognition of his active role in promoting inter-cultural and inter-faith dialogue for many years.

As special envoy, de Venecia’s duties include advising the government regarding inter-cultural dialogue issues and making recommendations on how to advance Philippine interests with regard to these issues.
