MANILA–The police officer who was suspected of helping the fleeing Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) bandits in Inabanga, Bohol will be dismissed from the service.

This was disclosed on Monday by Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Director General Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa in connection with the arrest of Police Supt. Maria Christina Nobleza, deputy regional chief of crime laboratory in Region 11, and his driver identified as Reenor Lou Dungon.

Nobleza and Dungon, together with two passengers, were arrested when they avoided a police checkpoint in Clarin, Bohol near the area where the ASG bandits who were involved in the Inabanga incident were hiding from pursuing authorities.

Dela Rosa said that Nobleza was “sleeping with the enemy” after it was discovered that her driver, Dungon, is her boyfriend, who was later confirmed as a member of the ASG.

The PNP chief added that one of their companion- passengers is the mother-in-law of the terrorists, namely: Zulkifli bir Ahir alias “Marwan”, Khadafy Janjalani, Rajah Sulayman and Akmad Santos.

Dela Rosa noted that the act of Nobleza in avoiding the checkpoint was suspicious as well as her presence in the area wherein the wanted ASG members in Bohol were hiding.

He added that he would like the custody of Nobleza and Dungon be transferred from the Bohol PNP to Camp Crame, Quezon City because they were considered as “high-value targets”.

The authorities are now determining whether Nobleza, who is a “balik-Islam (Muslim convert)”, is a supporter of the ASG or was just used by his boyfriend, who is an Abu Sayyaf himself.
