DSWD readies aids for possible “Crising” victims
MANILA—The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) assured Saturday sufficient family food packs to cover the assistance needed for the possible eventualities of Tropical Depression “Crising.”
A total of 418,290 family food packs and food and non-food items worth Php 755,231,459.63 in all its field offices warehouses and various local government units were prepositioned in anticipation of any damages that Crising will bring forth.
It also pre-positioned a total of PhP 1,054,409.549.12 standby funds as part of its initial preparation to facilitate any needed augmentation.
Two disaster response hubs of DSWD capable of undertaking mechanized packing system were also alerted to do the necessary augmentation to affected regions in Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao, respectively.
These hubs were NROC (National Resource Operation Center) in Pasay City, Manila and Visayas Disaster Response Center in Cebu, which are capable of producing 100,000 family food packs each when the need arises for immediate augmentation requirements.
The family food packs consist of rice, sachets of coffee, corned beef/meat loaf, and bottled water.
The non-food items were assorted used clothing, blankets, mats, mosquito nets and malong
Likewise, it also alerted, the Quick Response Teams including Social welfare and Development Teams and Provincial/Municipal Action Teams.
In addition, the agency also prepared teams that will undertake psycho-social processing, inventory and monitoring for any other possible assistance needed based on the scope of Crising’s possible effect.
