PHL undergoing ‘rebirth, renewal’ under Pres. Duterte—Pimentel

MANILA—Just like the days leading up to Easter Sunday, the administration under President Rodrigo Duterte also engages in the same process of rebirth and renewal, Senate President Aquilino Pimentel III said Tuesday.

Pimentel, in his Lenten message, compared the Duterte administration to Easter, noting that they both attempted to rid the world of “evils”.

He said that it was the evils that have prevented the country from achieving redemption and progress.

“On behalf of the Senate, allow me to join the whole nation as we observe the annual Lenten season and look forward to Easter Sunday that symbolizes rebirth and renewal for the Christian world,” Pimentel said in a statement.

“Our nation is now engaged in the same process of rebirth and renewal under the administration of President Rodrigo Duterte.”

The Senate president meanwhile assured that the administration’s 10-point economic, social reform agenda and proposed shift to a federal system of government would build a new future for the nation.

Pimentel is also president of the administration party Partido Demokratiko Pilipino Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-LABAN).
