MANILA—Power grid operator, the National Grid Corp. of the Philippines (NGCP), on Tuesday placed the Luzon grid on yellow alert due to the forced outage of eight power plants.

The NGCP said in an advisory that the yellow alert will run between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. due to “low operating power”.

From 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., the Luzon grid will have a supply of 10,140 megawatts (MW) and a demand of 9,234 MW.

The Sy-led company forecast the grid to have a reserve of 906 MW.

The grid earlier had a capacity of 10,090 MW and a demand of 9,328 MW. It had a reserve of 762 MW from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Meralco said the power plants that went on forced outage are the San Gabriel, San Lorenzo Mod 50 and 60, Avion 2, Ilijan Block B, Pagbilao 2, Calaca 1, and Pagbilao 1.
