NBI seizes PHP86.5-M worth of fake Nike, Converse shoes in Pasay
MANILA—Agents of the National Bureau of Investigation-Intellectual Property Rights Division (NBI-IPRD) seized counterfeit Nike and Converse shoes worth PHP86.5 million during a raid in Pasay City.
Judge Rainelda H. Estacio Montesa of Manila Regional Trial Court, Branch 46, granted and issued search warrant on Tuesday, March 21 against Ana Chua, Wang Yu Bo, and other proprietors/occupants of premises located in various units at 111 J. Fernando Street, Pasay City and at One Shopping Center, Kapitan Ambo Street, Pasay City.
The operatives of NBI-IPRD coordinated with the Philippine National Police (PNP) who has jurisdiction of the place to be searched, to effect the search warrant on Wednesday.
The operation, which stemmed from the complaint of Jaime S. Dela Cruz of I-Data (Nike and Converse), resulted in the seizure of counterfeit Nike and Converse shoes with an estimated cost of more or less PHP86,550,000.

The seized items are under temporary custody in a warehouse in Valenzuela City.
Charges of Trademark Infringement under the Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines or Republic Act 8293 are being prepared against the owners of the raided establishments.
