Trillanes to invite 7 more witnesses against Duterte
Senator Antonio Trillanes IV said on Wednesday that he will present up to seven witnesses to prove the existence of the notorious Davao Death Squad.
He didn’t set any specific date on when to invite the witnesses and that he and his team are still evaluating them. Although he did confirm that they will be presented in public and it doesn’t have to be in the Senate Committee.
In an interview with ANC’s “Morning Edition”, he said, “The five are [confessed members of the DDS], but the two are let’s just say below the category of Mr. [Edgar] Matobato, but they are eye witnesses as well.”
“All of them would confirm what [retired SPO3 Arturo] Lascañas and Matobato said and they’ll be coming up with specific incidents that’s peculiar to their own testimonies,” he added.
As to how they were found, Trillanes said that some of them approached him and his team while the others sought the Church.
“We’ve already rejected a couple…because while they may be telling the truth, there is a possibility that they can switch sides, they can get swayed by the persuasions of the other side,” he said.
It was only a few weeks ago when Trillanes had presented retired SPO3 Arturo Lascañas in a press conference, recanting everything that he said when he was summoned by a Senate Committee last year.
Meanwhile, Atty. Jude Sabio, lawyer of confessed hitman Edgar Matobato confirmed that he and his client are going to file a case against Duterte before the International Criminal Court in the Netherlands some time in April.
Both testimonies had been dismissed by the Senate due to lack of evidence and questionable credibility.
