Century Pacific named ‘Best Managed Company’

MANILA—Listed Century Pacific Food Inc. (CNPF), the Philippines’ largest canned food company, has been awarded by Asiamoney as the country’s Best Managed Company in 2016, under the Small Cap category.

Asiamoney is one of the leading financial publications in Asia Pacific, providing news, opinion and data service for people and institutions in the international capital markets.

It gave recognition to Century Pacific for its “clarity of strategy and adept use of marketing”.

The company “emphasizes the health advantages of its products, appealing to young consumers that value a recognizable brand and clean living”, Asiamoney said.

In a recently concluded annual poll, over 180 chief investment officers, portfolio managers and research analysts were surveyed across Asia to select the region’s best firms and executives.

The winners were cited for a combination of factors, including financial performance, innovation and strategic execution.

Century Pacific’s Chief Finance Officer Oscar Pobre said, “We are honored to be recognized as one of the best managed companies in the country. We remain committed to excellence in our performance, even as we face a more challenging environment this year.”

Pobre received the award on behalf of the company in a recognition ceremony in Hong Kong, last Feb. 22.

Century Pacific is engaged in the development, marketing and distribution of processed fish, meat, dairy, and coconut under its own brands, as well as the brands of others.

The company is behind household names Century Tuna, Argentina Corned Beef, 555 Sardines, Angel Milk and Birch Tree.

It maintains market leadership in the canned fish and canned meat segments, while actively growing its presence in canned and powdered milk.
