MANILA –The government will be providing assistance to the family of the 36-year old overseas Filipino worker (OFW), who was killed together with her employer in Jordan early this month.

With this, Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III expressed sympathy to the bereaved family of household service worker (HSW) Felma Maramag.

The OFW’s remains were repatriated last Feb. 18 from the host country with connecting flight to Tuguegarao the next day.

Airport assistance, including documentation processes, was also extended to the family of the late Filipino migrant worker by the OWWA Region 2 officials, who likewise attended the wake.

In the initial report submitted by the Philippine Embassy in Amman, Jordan, to the Department of Foreign Affairs, copy furnished POLO/OWWA, the bodies of the two victims were discovered by a police officer upon responding to a call from the Civil Defense Directorate of Jordan regarding a fire where the OFW was employed.

Autopsy report revealed that the OFW died due to blunt force trauma to the head. She sustained a stab wound on the head, a broken skull, and bruises all over her body.

The murder occurred one day after Maramag celebrated her 36th birthday on February 4, a few days before the completion of her two-year work contract.
