No raps filed vs 101 importers yet –BOC
MANILA –The Bureau of Customs (BOC) clarified that it did not file any case against importers due to violations of Customs laws.
Customs Spokesperson Neil Estrella said they did not issue any statement regarding the filing of cases against 101 importers including cigarette manufacturer, Mighty Corp., noting that they are still reviewing the cases of these importers.
“But BOC, however, does not discount the possibility of filing a case and suspension of accreditation (of any company) if warranted by evidences that will be uncovered during our probe,” he said.
The bureau is currently probing erring importers of oil, luxury vehicles, and cigarette.
A thorough investigation is now being conducted to firmly establish air-tight legal actions against them.
With this, Estrella urged the public and the media to be vigilant against unofficial claims about BOC by unauthorized sources of information.
He noted that official statements, information, and press releases may be accessed through the BOC’s office website (customs.
gov.ph), Facebook (Bureau of Customs PH) and Twitter (@CustomsPH) accounts, e-mail address, and authorized officials and media officers.
