MANILA—Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Director General Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa has approved the dismissal from service of 99 policemen who were confirmed positive of drug use.

PNP Internal Affairs Service (IAS) Inspector General Alfegar Triambulo, in a press conference in Camp Crame on Friday, said the names of the 99 policemen from the 198 PNP personnel found positive of drug use have been forwarded to the PNP chief.

Triambulo added that the PNP chief has signed the recommendation for dismissal, hence, they are already “dismissed.”

The PNP IAS chief said he will release next week and submit to the PNP chief the recommendation on another 40 names for illegal substance use.

”Use of drugs sabi ng Civil Service rule dismissal, sabi ng Napolcom (National Police Commission) is dismissal, yan ay grave offense,” Triambulo said.

The PNP IAS chief noted that of the 198 positive of drugs, only five are non-uniformed personnel (NUP) and the rest are all uniformed personnel.
