MANILA –In line with President Rodrigo Duterte’s ceasefire termination order, troopers from the 2nd Infantry Division, on patrol operations, clashed with an estimated 10 New People’s Army (NPA) members in Rodriguez town, Rizal Monday afternoon.

The encounter took place in Sitio Lukutan Maliit, Barangay San Isidro of said locality at around 1: 30 p.m., 2nd Infantry Division public affairs office chief 1st Lt. Xy-zon Meneses said.

In the 10-minute fighting, no casualties were sustained by both sides but retreating NPA members dropped behind ammunition and subversive documents.

“The enemies of the government shall expect massive combat operations as we are now more focused in protecting the people from any threat. Yet, we are still open for those NPAs who would like to return to the folds of law,” 2nd Infantry Division commander Major Gen. Rhoderick Parayno said.

Pursuit operations are still ongoing as of this posting.
