MANILA—The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Thursday assured that they are not giving a VIP (very important person) treatment to former Senior Supt. Cesar Mancao II, who surrendered to the PNP Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG) in Camp Crame, Quezon City on Monday.

”No VIP treatment. He (Mancao) is still restrained. He cannot get out,” CIDG National Capital Region (NCR) director Senior Supt. Belli Tamayo said in an ambush interview in Camp Crame on Thursday.

Mancao is an accused in the abduction and slay of noted publicist Salvador “Bubby” Dacer and his driver Emmanuel Corbito in November 2000.

”He (Mancao) is in good physical condition and we are very optimistic if the court requires, he will be presented in good physical condition,” Tamayo said.

The arrest warrant against Mancao was returned to the Manila Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 18 and the CIDG-NCR is now awaiting for the commitment order to be issued by the court which will determine where he will be detained.

The PNP official said that there is no more need to get a statement from Mancao.

”No need anymore. Hindi na kailangan. He (Mancao) has already a warrant of arrest so depende na sa disposition ng korte,” Tamayo said.

The PNP has not released any mugshot of Mancao.

”I consulted our legal division and the advise is for us not to officially release (the mugshot),” Tamayo said.
