MANILA –Miss Philippines Maxine Medina made it to the top 13 finalists in the Miss Universe 2016 pageant.

The top 13 candidates were announced by American host Steve Harvey Monday (Philippine time).

These include: Miss Kenya, Miss Indonesia, Miss USA, Miss Mexico, Miss Peru, Miss Panama, Miss Colombia, Miss Philippines, Miss Canada, Miss Brazil, Miss France, Miss Haiti, and Miss Thailand.

Miss Thailand won the online voting results.

When Miss Colombia Andrea Tovar took the stage, Harvey acknowledged anew for the mistake he made in reading the name of the winner during the last pageant held December 2015 where he announced Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutierrez instead of Miss Philippines Pia Wurtzbach as the next Miss Universe.

He asked her how people in Colombia felt about him, to which she replied: “Do you want the truth?

A lot of people hate you.”

She, however, assured him that it was all right saying, “But me, I love you” and she gave Harvey a hug.

Miss Philippines Maxine Medina was the next candidate to be called after Miss Colombia and Harvey quipped by saying “Not again.”

Medina said that her aunt, who was also a Miss Universe candidate in 1990, advised her to be herself and be more confident. (PNA)
