PNP chief to reshuffle AKG
MANILA—Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Director General Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa on Monday announced he will reshuffle the whole PNP-Anti Kidnapping Group (AKG) following the kidnapping and execution of South Korean businessman Jee Ick Joo last Oct. 18.
The PNP chief made the announcement during a press conference in Camp Pantaleon Garcia in Imus, Cavite as he clarified that PNP-AKG Director Senior Supt. Glenn Dumlao will retain his current position.
Dela Rosa said it was Dumlao who solved the South Korean kidnapping case, which was barely a month after he assumed office.
The PNP chief has earlier cleared Dumlao, who was being implicated by the camp of SPO3 Ricky Sta. Isabel, the prime suspect in the case.
He was convinced Jinky Sta. Isabel, the wife of SPO3 Sta. Isabel, is only hurling accusations against those investigating her to muddle the case against her husband.
Dela Rosa added the public should not confuse Dumlao with another Dumlao — Supt. Rafael Dumlao, who is SPO3 Sta. Isabel’s boss in the AIDG (Anti-Illegal Drugs Group).
He said this Supt. Rafael Dumlao, who is not related to Senior Supt. Glenn Dumlao, is the one who has strong evidence of being SPO3 Sta. Isabel’s partner in crime.
