MANILA – Outgoing senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. over the weekend said he is determined to file election protest before the Presidential Electoral Tribunal (PET) within the month.

Marcos believed that he was cheated in the recent presidential elections where he lost his vice presidential bid by more than 200,000 votes against his closest rival, Camarines Sur Rep. Leni Robredo.

“I will file my election protest on or before June 28 before SET,” Marcos told reporters at the weekly forum, Kapihan sa Annabel’s in Quezon City held Saturday.

The outgoing senator, however, declined to disclose details of his protest, saying he will cross the bridge when he gets there.

According to Marcos, there are so many allegations that is why he wanted to “find out the truth.”

He added that his battery of lawyers is now preparing all needed documents to be presented before the PET.

The lawmaker said that they were currently collecting documents to support their case, which they intend to file before the PET on June 28.

“Presently, we are collating affidavits and evidence,” he said.

The senator lost to his closest rival Vice President-elect Leni Robredo by some 200,000 votes in the last elections.

Robredo, along with President-elect Rodrigo Duterte, will formally take their oath of office on June 30.

Meanwhile, the lawmaker said that there was no definite date yet as to the plan of burying his father, the late and former President Ferdinand Marcos, Sr., at the Libingan ng Nga Bayani in Taguig City.

Marcos is convinced that the burial of his father, will put a closure not only for his family but for the nation as well.

“I think it will bring closure not only to my family but to the rest of the country,” he said.
