The battle ends: Goodbye, Courageous Caitie

MANILA – Caitlin Soleil Lucas, a three-year-old girl who suffered a rare disease called Juvenile Myelomonocytic Leukemia (JMML), joined our creator today.

After six months of battling the disease and a day of watching movies and playing with PlayDoh, the courageous little girl passed away. She had difficulties breathing and her ‘oxygen level was not going up.’

Courageous Caitie’s story has been shared on social media, where thousands of netizens expressed their support and offered prayers. She also has a fan page, “Courageous Caitie,” which was liked by thousands of Facebook users. Everyone was with the young girl throughout the fight.

It was in September last year when her parents Feliz and Jayjay Lucas noticed lesions in her body which at first looked like mosquito bites but later on seemed to be signs of a far more serious condition.

After a series of examinations, none of the doctors from two hospitals in Manila were able to identify her rare blood disease. It was on March 2 in Singapore when it was found out by doctors in Singapore that Caitie had JMML.
