Twelve year old river otter dies in pool at Calgary Zoo

CALGARY—The Calgary Zoo says one of its North American river otters has died in the pool at the Canadian Wilds exhibit.

The zoo says a keeper noticed 12-year-old Logan struggling in the pool and jumped in to save him, but the otter did not survive.

A spokeswoman says Logan’s death has upset staff and an investigation is being done to determine what happened.

The zoo has three remaining otters: one year-old male Finnegan, 12- year-old female Charlotte and 16-year-old male Callebaut.
