Manila—Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte filed today his Certificate of Candidacy (COC) for president in the 2016 polls after withdrawing his COC for mayor of Davao City.

Duterte, through his counsel Salvador Medialdea, filed his COC for president before the law department of the Comelec at 11:50 a.m. today.

Along with his COC is a certificate of nomination and acceptance from Partido Demokratiko Pilipinas-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban). The certificate was signed by Duterte and Engr. Salvador Ty, vice president of the party.

Duterte has earlier filed his COC for mayor of Davao City. He has withdrawn the said COC and named his daughter, Sara Duterte Carpio, as his replacement candidate.

“Sara is here, she will run for mayor and I am withdrawing my COC because I am running for president,” Duterte was quoted as saying in a Rappler report.
