Aiko Melendez, Epy quizon win international acting awards

Aiko Melendez, bagged Best Actress Awards, while Epy Quizon won Best Actor at The International Film Festival Manhattan (IFFM) in New York City, a few days ago.

Aiko Melendez who starred in the indie film, Asintado, directed by Louie Ignacio, ecstatically shared the news on Instagram.

“We made it! Thank you, Lord Jesus! God is really good. He knows the perfect timing for everything,” the award-winning actress wrote.

Melendez thanked Ignacio, who also won Best Director; the film’s producers, Dennis Evangelista and Ferdinand Lapuz; her co-actors, Gabby Eigenman, Jhake Vargas, Miggs Cuaderno, Rochelle Pangilinan and Rita Daniela. She also expressed gratitude towards her friends and the press.

Aiko has earlier won Best Actress award for her role in Asintado at the 7th London International Filmmaker Festival of World Cinema.

Epy Quizon, on the other hand, used Facebook to extend thanks to the cast and crew of Unlucky Plaza, the film that won him Best Actor award. He thanked director Ken Kwek and co-actors Pang, Judee Tan, Guo Liang.

Epy acknowledged his siblings Eric and Ronnie as his “mentors in this field and in life” and his sister Madonna, as well as his kids Leandro and Misha “for continuously inspiring me to do better all the time” and his wife Rosanna who has been his “rock”.

“To my mom, Alice,I hope to continuously make you proud… But most especially I share this award with my dad who I believe is smiling down on me from heaven… Dad please do me a favor and whisper to God for me. Please tell him that all the glory and honor is his,” the actor wrote.
