Typhoon Goring enters PH
MANILA — Typhoon Goring (international name Halola) entered the Philippine area of responsibility yesterday but won’t have any direct effect in the country, according to the weather state bureau.
PAGASA said the typhoon was spotted at 1,390 kilometers east-northeast of Basco Batanes, as of 4 p.m. yesterday.
Goring, which was moving west at 15 kph was packing winds of 145 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 180 kph.
The low-pressure spotted at 190 km east northeast of Casiguran, Aurora, 4 p.m. yesterday will continue to bring moderate rains and thunderstorms over the provinces of Isabela, Cagayan and Aurora in the next 24 hours.
The state bureau said that the Typhoon is not likely to enhance the southwest monsson or make landfall.
It added that the typhoon is expected to move out of the country before weekend and move toward southern Japan.
