MANILA — Interior Secretary Mar Roxas confirmed that he will be attending a dinner tonight, hosted by President Aquino with Senators Grace Poe and Chiz Escudero.

This is the first time that potential candidates for the highest post in 2016 polls will be seated together in a dinner with the President.

Roxas said that he sees nothing wrong with attending the dinner.

Una, ang Pangulo ang nag-imbita, palagay ko may pakay siya,” he said as quoted in a report for Interaksyon.com.

(First of all, it’s the President who invited us; he certainly must have a reason for doing so.)

He noted how the present administration’s ‘Daang Matuwid’ (straight path) has benefited a lot of Filipinos, and all that are interested in keeping the said flagship should be mobilized.

“Dahil napakahalaga po ng Daang Matuwid na ito. Lahat ng kilos dapat gawin para mabuo lahat ng pwersa na nais maipagpatuloy ang daan na ito. Napakaraming kababayan ang masasabing nakikinabang na sa Daang Matuwid,” he added in the same report.

(Daang Matuwid is so important. All forces who have an interest in keeping it should be mobilized. Many of our people are benefiting from Daang Matuwid.)

President Aquino, meanwhile, is yet to select the candidates that he will be endorsing for the elections in 2016.
