‘Minions’ earn P22M, sets opening day record in PH
MANILA — “Minions” set an opening day record in the Philippines after earning P22.8 million on its first day.
United International Pictures, the local distributor of the film said the movie broke the record set by “Rio” in 2011.
“Minions” is an animated movie about yellow creatures who are looking for a villain to serve.
It has now raked P189 million in five days (July 8 to 12) and has surpassed the earnings of its 2013 predecessor “Despicable Me 2,” which earned P125.7M in the same period.
The film garnered P22.9M on Thursday, P32M on Friday, P58.9M on Saturday and P52.2M on Sunday, according to United International Pictures.
