Road tour no more?
MANILA — Senator Grace Poe on Sunday said that there are no “new proposals” for her to join a scheduled tour of the provinces with Interior Secretary Mar Roxas.
In a phone interview with the Philippine Daily Inquirer, Poe said that President Aquino first invited her to join the tour back in May.
“That was discussed the first time I met with the President in May to discuss 2016. This was not brought up in my last meeting with the President,” Poe said.
During the same meeting, Poe said the President also agreed when he asked if Senator Chiz Escudero could also join the tour.
“There has been no concrete agreement and planning since then. I think it is safe to say that it will not push through,” she added.
In a text message to PDI, Escudero also said that it may be possible that Aquino is no longer considering the tour.
He added that there is really nothing for him to decide on, when asked if he would join the tour.
“Given that no such request was made other than a mere mention of the conversation between the President and Senator Grace, there is nothing really for me to say yes or no to.”
Escudero also revealed that the President made no mention of the tour during their meeting in the Palace on Thursday.
“Besides, the President didn’t say anything about that when we met so it might not even be a consideration for him or for Secretary Roxas anymore,” Escudero said in the same interview with PDI.
