PH Ambassador to Indonesia visits Mary Jane Veloso

MANILA — Philippine Ambassdor Maria Lumen B. Isletta visited Mary Jane Fiesta Veloso at the Wirogunan Penitentiary in Yogyakarta on Thursday.

Veloso was convicted of drug trafficking and was among the nine death row inmates scheduled to be executed last April.

“It is only a routine visit while the ambassador is here in Yogyakarta,” Wirogunan Penitentiary warden Zainal Arifin said in a report for The Jakarta Post.

Isletta arrived in the morning and left after more than two hours.

Meanwhile, boxing champ and Saranggani Rep. Manny Pacquiao was also reported to have visited Veloso on Friday.

During the visit, Pacquiao was with his wife Jinkee , Philippine embassy officials, Indonesian lawyers and prosecutors.
