Palace: ‘Up to Binay to leave the Cabinet’

MANILA — The decision on whether to leave the Cabinet or not is up to Vice President Jejomar Binay.

Malacanang reiterated this yesterday following earlier reports about Binay’s plans to leave.

“That decision will ultimately be decided by the Vice President himself. And let us give him that window if he decides one way or the other,” presidential spokesman Edwin Lacierda said in a news briefing.

This came after reports on Binay’s statements against the administration’s “daang matuwid” (straight path) which he said might be a misnomer after all.

Lacierda, however, clarified that they believe that Binay is not speaking ill of the administration.
