33 former rebels get PHP2.1M worth of financial, livelihood assistance
MANILA — Thirty-three former New People’s Army (NPA) fighters each received PHP65,000 worth of livelihood and financial assistance from the Provincial government of Negros Oriental Tuesday.
The money was sourced from the Comprehensive Local Integration Program (CLIP), 3rd Infantry Division spokesperson Major Ray Tiongson said.
Turnover took place at the Negros Oriental Convention Center, Dumaguete City.
Tiongson said the CLIP beneficiaries are composed of 29males and four females.
Each received PHP15,000 worth of financial assistance and another PHP50,000 worth of livelihood benefits.
Tiongson said livelihood projects that will be set up by these ex-rebels will be monitored regularly by the Department of Social Welfare and Development and other concerned agencies.
Aside from the financial and livelihood assistance, the beneficiaries and their families also underwent Socio-Economic Skills and Values Formation Orientation Training which was administered by the Provincial Interior and Local Government Office and Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office.
