MANILA — Jericho Rosales, one of the pioneers of the original Pangako Sa ‘Yo,  has a message for Daniel Padilla who is taking the same role Rosales did in the original series.

“A piece of advice — I always say, you make a lousy them, you make a great you. And Daniel is an original,” he said speaking on the sidelines of the red-carpet premiere of “You’re Still the One.”

Asked about what he feels about the modern retelling of the new series, Rosales said, “Nostalgic, siyempre.”

“I feel proud na ‘yung show namin naging isang remake. Classic siya ngayon na naging remake. I’m very, very happy for the two — sina Daniel [Padilla] and Kathryn [Bernardo], and the entire cast.”

(I feel proud that they’re doing a remake of our show. It’s a classic that is now a remake. I’m very, very happy for the two — Daniel and Kathryn, and the entire cast.)

He also said that the team should not focus on the pressure.

“I don’t think they should focus on the pressure, if they are. Lahat kami, proud kami sa kanila, because they’re taking on a great and exciting project.”

(All of us are proud of them because they’re taking on a great and exciting project.)
