Are Binay’s allies hiding?
MANILA — Senate’s sergeant at arms chief, Jose Balajadia on Wednesday reported that some of Vice President Jejomar Binay’s aides and associates who were ordered arrested, were nowhere to be found.
He added that his team failed to locate Binay’s allies in their registered residences and businesses addresses.
Balajadia even said that one of the addresses by one of the persons ordered to be arrested may be fake.
He said that the owner of the house vehemently denied that such person was residing in the house.
“When we arrived, the owner of the house said, ‘Why are you dragging me into that issue? I don’t know that person,’” he recalled. He said the addresses submitted for the subpoenas were wrong.
Among those in the list ordered by Senate President Franklin Drilon arrested are Binay’s longtime aide Gerry Limlingan and associates Vissia Marie Aldon, Danilo Villas, Aida Alcantara, Hirene Lopez, Irene Chong, Imee Chong, Kim Tung Chong, Iris Chong, Erlinda Chong, Kimsfer Chong, Anne Lorraine Buencamino-Tiu, and brothers James and Antonio Tiu.
Antonio Tiu, Aldon, Villas and Makati City engineer Line de la Peña’s arrest were, meanwhile, deferred following their submission of motions for reconsideration, promising to appear in the next hearing.
Despite this, Balajadia said his team will continue the search even to the point that they might need to tap the help the police and other agencies.
