12,000 athletes continue to battle for gold in Palarong Pambansa

TAGUM CITY, Davao del Norte -– Over 12,000 young athletes from all parts of the country continued to battle for the gold as the Palarong Pambansa 2015 entered its fourth day.

Based on the latest official tally on the overall gold medal standing, the National Capital Region Athletic Association leads the pack with 21 gold, 21 silver and 12 bronze medals followed by the Southern Tagalog Calabarzon Athletic Association with 15 gold, nine silver and 15 bronze medals; third: Western Visayas Athletic Association with 13 gold, 9 silver and 13 bronze medals; fourth: Cordillera Administrative Region Athletic Association with 11 gold, 12 silver and six bronze medals; 5th place was Central Visayas Region Athletic Association with six gold, four silver and seven bronze medals.

On the medal trail were the Central Luzon Athletic Association, Bicol Region Athletic Association, Northern Mindanao Regional Athletic Association, Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao Regional Athletic Association, Socksargen Regional Athletic Association, Cagayan Valley Region Athletic Association, Region I Athletic Association, Eastern Visayas Region Athletic Association, Davao Region Athletic Association, Caraga, MIMAROPA Southern Tagalog, Zamboanga Peninsula Regional Athletic Association.

Governor Rodolfo Del Rosario remains grateful for the opening and the holding of the Palarong Pambansa in Davao del Norte with the occurrence of heavy downpours.

He told reporters during the Media Night that the change in the weather has lowered down the warm temperature which was felt in the region because of the drought.

However, Del Rosario observed that due to the rain, the black bugs also came out as they are attracted to the bright light.

Even then, he thanked the media for highlighting the Palarong Pambansa this year.

“We are happy that you give utmost importance to the coverage of the Palaro,” Del Rosario said.
