Pay-Per-View problems occur during Mayweather-Pacquiao bout
Cable companies encountered technical problems during the much-awaited boxing match between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao last May 2 due to high pay-per-view demand.
Some people ordered at the last seconds, delaying the fight and causing disruptions in cable and satellite systems. Angry remarks then surfaced in social media as some were not able to buy or were not able to tune in to the fight.
But for those who watched via live video-streaming from sites such as Meerkat and Periscope, they didn’t seem to have problems and even bragged also in social media about saving a hundred dollars.
Cable providers and fight promoters, on the other hand, have not yet released any official statement regarding the live-streams.
CBS and HBO, however, had previously blocked BoxingHD.net and SportShip.org., prohibiting them from airing the fight.
