Solons confident of Pacquiao victory
MANILA — House members on Saturday rallied behind Filipino boxing icon Rep. Manny Pacquiao, as they expressed confidence about their colleague’s victory against American boxer Floyd Mayweather, Jr. in their “Fight of the Century” bout in Las Vegas, Nevada Saturday (Sunday in Manila).
The much-awaited fight once again unites Filipinos here and abroad in praying for the safe and convincing victory of Pacquiao whose key assets include his speed, stamina, power, ring intelligence, rigid training and resoluteness, among others according to the lawmakers.
Deputy Speaker and Isabela Fourth District Rep. Giorgidi B. Aggabao said once again the gentleman from Sarangani honors the country in this fight for the ages.
“I wish Manny speed and strength, and luck. And however this fight may come out. I hope Filipinos would remain united and proud,” said Aggabao.
Rep. Rodolfo “Rodito” T. Albano III (2nd District, Isabela), said there is no doubt that Pacquiao will emerge as the winner because of his rigid training, speed, power and indomitable spirit to prevail over any challenge.
“We, the Filipino people, will always be behind you, Manny. You have all the qualities and endowments of a true champion. Remain humble and magnanimous in victory or in defeat,” said Albano.
House Deputy Speaker and Nueva Vizcaya Rep. Carlos M. Padilla said the country would be united in rooting and praying for the safe and convincing win of Pacquiao as they have done in the past.
“We are praying not only for the victory but also the safety of our Pambansang Kamao Manny Pacquiao. May the Lord protect him during the entire duration of the highly- anticipated megafight,” said Padilla.
Rep. Gwendolyn “Gwen” F. Garcia (3rd District, Cebu) likewise wished Pacquiao well and assured his fellow Visayan of her all-out support.
“My sincerest prayers and wishes for a decisive victory for Manny and the entire Filipino nation. Mabuhi!,” said Garcia.
Rep. Isidro T. Ungab (3rd District, Davao City), said the bout would once again display the resoluteness, wisdom and strength of Pacquiao, which will be instrumental to his victory.
“We wish Congressman Manny the best. His victory is a victory for the Filipino people. May he bring home the crown of success that will symbolize the greatness of the Filipino spirit,” said Ungab.
Rep. Karlo Alexei B. Nograles (1st District, Davao City), said the entire nation joins Pacquiao in spirit and prayer in his quest for another glorious victory for the country.
“On behalf of the House of Representatives and the people of the First District of Davao City, we would like to wish Congressman Manny all the best as he represents the entire Filipino nation in the Fight of the Century! May the Divine Providence sharpen his skills to the fullest on fight night and let our People’s Champ unleash his fiercest as the entire country joins him in spirit and prayer for victory! Win or lose, we are proud of you Manny, our Pambansang Kamao from Mindanao!
Rep. Samuel D. Pagdilao (Party-list, ACT-CIS) said he is one with the Filipinos in earnestly praying for Pacquiao’s victory. The overwhelming and constant support of Filipinos provides inspiration to Pacquiao to win his bouts, according to Pagdilao.
“I join the whole nation in praying for the victory of Rep. Manny Pacquiao. His victory in this epic battle will unify and rally our people behind a great champion,” said Pagdilao.
