OFWs warned against working as household workers in China
ANILA — The Philippine Embassy in Beijing reminded Filipinos against working as nannies, household workers or private tutors in mainland China.
“Foreigners cannot be employed as household workers in mainland China as it is against Chinese laws,” the embassy said in an advisory.
Meanwhile, Filipinos were also reminded to be careful about agencies or individiuals offering to help extending tourist visas.
The said offer, which often comes with corresponding fees, may only lead to violation and abuse.
“These agents or individuals are involved in illegal recruitment, break Chinese laws and often resort to unscrupulous actions. Our kababayans who work illegally are vulnerable to abuse by these individuals,” it stated.
The embassy also warned agents who are offering the said jobs in the country.
“It is advisable not to accept their offers,” the embassy said calling on the proper observance of Chinese laws.
