MANILA — PNP Officer-in-Charge Police Deputy Director General Leonardo Espina on Sunday reminded police force involved in illegal drugs will face charges and dismissal from the service.

“Let me reiterate the strict policy against errant personnel involved in illegal drugs. There will be no compromise, no excuses, and no mercy for any PNP member who will be involved in illegal drugs,” Espina said.

“Drug use by any member of the PNP is a criminal offense that constitute grave misconduct punishable by dismissal from service”, he added.

Espina also lauded the initiative of CSupt Agrimero Cruz Jr, Regional Director of Police Regional Office 10 for intensifying its campaign against illegal drugs to his police force in Northern Mindanao.

“I am pleased with the initiative of CSupt Agrimero Cruz Jr, Regional Director of Police Regional Office 10 in revitalizing the national anti-drug campaign in Northern Mindanao by starting within his own backyard among members of the Regional police force,” he noted.

Espina said that by conducting random drug tests, we have conclusively identified some personnel who are into drugs.

“As I speak, Summary Hearing Proceedings are underway against these personnel on the basis of the positive results of their drug tests. They have been disarmed and restricted to quarters pending further investigation,” the PNP-OIC said.

“Let this serve as a stern warning to all PNP personnel elsewhere that the full force of the law will be applied on any misconduct or breach of discipline,” said Espina.
