Marwan’s hut torched by armed men
MANILA — The police on Tuesday reported that several armed men set ablaze the hut where Zulkifli bin Hir, the Malaysian bomb terrorist known as “Marwan,” was killed by police commandos during the Mamasapano encounter.
The hut in Barangay (village) Pidsandawan, Mamasapano, Maguindanao was set on fire at around 10 p.m., according to Senior Inspector Reggie Abellera, Mamasapano police chief, on Wednesday.
“We have a team that will go to the site to check,” Abellera said during an interview with a local radio station in Cotabato City.
Meanwhile, Captain Jo-ann Petinglay, 6th Infantry Division spokesperson confirmed in a Philippine Daily Inquirer report that they have received the same reports adding that they will still have to verify the truth about it.
The Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) also said that they have already confirmed the burning.
They added that two other huts were also razed aside from that of Marwan’s.
There were also reports that the burning of the hut was made several hours after the Philippine National Police (PNP) made a visit in the area.
Police Director Benjamin Magalong, head of the BOI, however said that they were not able to reach the site where Marwan’s hut was because of reports that there were members of “BIFF” in the area.
