MANILA — A Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT-3) train along Epifanio Delos Santos Ave. (EDSA) malfunctioned in the early morning hours of the Chinese New Year on Thursday.

Reports showed that the northbound train from the MRT Taft Ave. Station stalled before reaching the Ortigas area at around 5:55 a.m., forcing passengers to alight before reaching their destinations.

This week, the MRT-3 also experienced glitches on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Tuesday’s incident caused a number of passengers to complain about falling “like dominoes” after the train suddenly stopped due to the accidental activation of the rail line’s automatic protection system.
