MANILA — Police Officer 2 Mariano Flormata, also known as Mister International Philippines Neil Perez is now in Seoul, South Korea, to compete for the Mr. International 2014.

Perez will be battling against 43 representatives from the different counties all over the world.

The big night for the contenders will be held on Thursday night at the Wapop Hall.

Before the pageant, Perez showed the national costume and formal wear that he will be wearing for the pageant.

He also showed how he has learned his lesson from the experience of Miss Universe candidate Mary Jean Lastimosa whose national costume was criticized.

Lastimosa’s costume was designed by Colombian designer Alfredo Barraza.

“That’s why we’re showing you my national costume and formal wear. They are made by Filipino designers.”

Asked about how he prepared himself for the competition, Perez said:

“I practiced on the runway, in front of the camera…. We also worked on my communication skills—I felt I needed to improve on that,” Perez shared in a report for the Philippine Daily Inquirer.
