Palace denies rumors of Aquino accepting Purisima’s resignation

MANILA — News of currently suspended Philippine National Police Chief Alan Purisima’s resignation flooded social media Thursday afternoon, after several news sites and networks reported that President Benigno Simeon Aquino III has accepted Purisima’s resignation.

However, these were all rumors, as a Malacanang official and Purisima’s lawyer denied the news.

Communications Secretary Herminio Coloma Jr. announced in a press briefing in Malacanang that they haven’t received any such information–let alone Purisima’s resignation letter.
