MANILA, Philippines – On Friday morning, Pope Francis made a courtesy visit to Malacañang where he delivered his first public address and had one-on-one meeting with President Benigno Aquino III.

During this visit, presidential sisters Ballsy Aquino-Cruz, Pinky Aquino-Abella and Kris Aquino were among those who met and welcomed the Pontiff.

Kris also had the opportunity to meet Pope Francis privately, which was a once-in-a-lifetime experience for her.

In her official Instagram account, Kris posted a photo of her encounter with the Pope.

She posted yet another photo where she showed Pope Francis the rosary he gave her son Josh, during their visit to the Vatican a year ago.

“My FAVORITE picture! I showed Pope Francis the Rosary he had given Kuya Josh when we had the privilege of going to the Vatican April 2013, and as part of the Wednesday Pope General Audience Kuya was handed a Rosary by Pope Francis. It was just so thrilling to see the Pope smile so warmly when I held up the Rosary that my sons & I treasure,” she said.

A day before she met with the Pope, Kris shared a photo of her holding homemade cookies. She also mentioned that she and co-host Boy Abunda had to tape their show “Aquino & Abunda Tonight” earlier to free their schedules the next day.

“I brought the cookies I baked… Pretaping because Boy & I are super blessed to get to see Pope Francis in Malacañang. Super early 7 AM meeting time,” she wrote.

Kris had five invites to Malacañang. She offered one to her friend Derek Ramsay. The actor politely turned down the opportunity as he had to be with his father who suffered from mild stroke.

Derek and Kris faced controversies last year as the public asked the true nature of their relationship. Both clarified the issue and said that they were just good friends.
