MANILA — A special coinage stamp in honor of the upcoming visit of Pope Francis will be released on Monday, the Philippine Postal Corporation (PHLPost) said.

In a statement, the PHLPost said the gold circular stamp features the smiling pope with the words “Pilipinas,” “Pope Francis Visit to the Philippines 2015,” and “Mercy and Compassion.”

It measures 9cm x 9cm and will be sold at P200.00.

The PHLPost added that the printing technology used for this one-of-a-kind stamp is 3D embossing hot copper foil with limited 7,000 pieces produced.

The coinage stamp to be released on Monday is one of two stamps released by the government to welcome the historic papal visit.

The special coinage stamps will be available at the Post Shop, Philately and Museum Division, Manila Central Post Office, Door 203, Liwasang Bonifacio, 1000 Manila and in all regional offices of PHLPost.

The stamps will be officially launched at SM North EDSA on January 14, 2015 at 11:00 AM to coincide with the opening of the Papal Exhibit at the Atrium, SM The Block.

On January 8, the PHLPost issued the “block of four” Pope Francis Visit to the Philippines commemorative stamps.

The Holy Father will visit the country on January 15 to 19, 2015.
