DAVAO CITY — The city government through its City Tourism Office (CTO) gears up on projects that will market Davao City internationally as the country’s premier host for local, regional, national and international convention.

Davao City tourism head Lisette Marquez said their projects and accomplishments are anchored on addressing the city’s vision to be the premier tourism center not only in Mindanao but in the East ASEAN Growth Area as well as in the Asia Pacific Region.

Marquez said the various programs and projects and activities that they have undertaken is in line with several sectoral goals affecting the tourism industry, adding that a sustained tourism in the city provides significant employment opportunities.

“We provide authentic experiences to tourists by capitalizing on a range of special places and its unique natural and cultural assets and increase global competitiveness of the industry and service sectors,” she said.

She said what they had done would also assist in gauging the city’s direction to sustainable development in terms of its tourism initiatives.

“In pursuing this path to sustainable development, it has been identified that tourism promotions plays a key role in intensifying this effort to place Davao City as a top-of-mind destination for holistic tourist activities,” Marquez said.
