15-year-old dies after assault by group in Surrey, B.C.

SURREY, B.C.—A 15-year-old boy has died after being assaulted by a group of people in Surrey, B.C.

RCMP say the youth was critically injured in the attack involving four to five people that occurred overnight.

Insp. Bruce Stuart says police and emergency responders were called about 2:45 a.m. after a report that two teenage boys ran to a home after being assaulted (on 18th Avenue.)

He says the 15-year-old was rushed to Peace Arch Hospital, where he died of his injuries around 10:20 a.m.

Homicide investigators are taking over the case.

Stuart says the motive for the attack isn’t yet clear and officers are now looking to speak with witnesses to determine what happened.
