MANILA — Organizers of Pope Francis’ visit to the country next month launched on Friday the Papal Visit 2015 mobile and tablet application (app) for the public to be informed of the pontiff’s activities during his state and apostolic journey to the Philippines next year.

According to Bishop Mylo Vergara, chairman of the Committee on Information and Media Relations, the app can be downloaded on smartphones for androids and iOS.

“We are trying our best to make sure that there will be channels of info for the pope’s visit. We are launching of our papal visit app for android and iOS. I you want to get it in your google or app store, all you need to do is type papalvisit2015,” he said during the Papal Visit weekly press briefing in Manila on Friday.

The app is linked to the papal Twitter account @pontifex, as well as to the official papal visit website, papalvisit.ph.

“’Yung mismong papal visit logo makikita mo. That is why when you tap it, you will see already information…nandun ‘yung link sa pontifex, news website and itinerary of the Holy Father. Pwede din siya sa tablet,” he said.

Vergara added, “We want as best as we can to make sure that the info day by day, updated weekly is given to the public especially those who are mobile. We are grateful for those who made sure that this would come out a month before the visit of the Holy Father.”

He said that it is a good way to inform the youth about the Papal Visit from January 15 to 19, 2015.

“I think the pope in this digital age wants to communicate. It’s actually highlighted even in the teachings of the church. All means of social communication should be utilized for evangelization,” the Pasig prelate said.

It also contains the National Prayer for the Papal Visit, a photo gallery, and audio of the official theme song, “We Are All God’s Children”, as well as news updates on the papal visit.
