CN freight train derails in central Saskatchewan: no spill, no injuries

RAYMORE, Saskatchewan — A Canadian National Railway freight train derailed Friday near a town in central Saskatchewan.

CN (TSX:CNR) said 35 freight cars, including one carrying dangerous goods, left the tracks near Raymore, Sask.

, but no one was hurt and the car carrying isopropanol alcohol was not leaking.

The derailment closed CN’s main line and rail traffic was being rerouted to other lines.

Later on Friday, CN spokesman Jim Feeny said cleanup work on the site was progressing well and the intention was to bring one track back into service late Friday or early Saturday.

He said the second track should be back in action on Saturday.

The derailment, which took place about three kilometres west of the town, did not cause any evacuations.

The cause of the derailment is under investigation.
