MANILA — Malacanang on Tuesday said the national government frontline team has started distributing food packs and relief goods for typhoon “Ruby” victims in Dolores town and other areas in Eastern Samar.

Deputy Presidential Spokesperson Abigail Valte said that Social Welfare and Development Secretary Corazon Soliman delivered on Monday three batches of food packs and relief goods in these areas.

Valte said Philippine Air Force C-130 planes and Philippine Navy vessel BRP Dagupan City are also expected to arrive on Tuesday in those typhoon-affected areas to distribute food packs and rice from the DSWD.

She said beneficiaries are from Eastern Samar provinces, including Dolores, Balangiga, Borongan, Can-avid, Guiuan, Giporlos, Hernani, Jipapad, Lawaan, Llorente, Mercedes, Oras, Quinapundan, Salcedo and San Policarpio.

Valte said Dolores town was hardly hit where typhoon Ruby made its first landfall.

“Yung visible damage po doon ay parang ‘yung naging damage sa Panay ‘nung dumaan ang bagyong Yolanda,” she said.

Apart from distributing relief packs, Valte said government efforts will also focus on temporary shelters.
