MANILA, Philippines – Tourists (approximately 70,000 a year) keep flocking to El Nido municipality in Palawan, and it’s no wonder why.  This paradisaical destination is rich in a biodiversity of flora, fauna, and exquisite natural beauty.

At the helm of the preservation and eco-tourism of El Nido are the El Nido Resorts; developed and operated by the Ten Knots group, under the umbrella of business giant, Ayala Corporation

El Nido resorts practice an unwavering commitment to eco-sustainability and responsibility; efforts for which they have received numerous international awards.

This international acclaim has not only drawn tourists to the various El Nido resorts, but has also brought the Philippines’ westernmost province into global focus.

“We have been exposed to international markets because of these awards and we are seeing more online reservations from foreign guests and interest from travel agents abroad,” Laurent Lamasuta, president of the Ten Knots Group, said.

This year, the various El Nido resorts bagged six major awards; among these: the Sustainable Hotel Award in the Sustainable Communities category, given in Hong Kong by the Hotel Investment Conference Asia Pacific; Asia’s Responsible Tourism Award given by the World Tourism Association;
Furthermore, the resort group’s newest addition, El Nido Resorts’ Pangulasian, was this year given the Green Hotel Award by the Association of South East Asian Nations, for the resort’s adherence to the ASEAN’s Green Hotel Standard.

“By all indicators, it is clear that sustainability is no longer just a trend. Many forces and influential organizations are pushing that it becomes a way of life, which it is in the El Nido Resorts,” Lamasuta noted.

There are four resorts in the El Nido Group, located on Miniloc Island, Lagen Island, Apulit Island, and Pangulasian Island; all in the province of Palawan.
