MANILA, Nov. 18 (PNA) — The government will not allow any brownout to occur, Presidential Communications Operations Office Secretary Herminio Coloma, Jr.

said on Tuesday.

Hindi pahihintulutan ng pamahalaan na maganap ‘yan (brownout) dahil mataas ang presyo ‘nung mawawala sa ating Gross Domestic Product (GDP) kapag nagkaroon ng brownouts (The government will not let brownouts happen because we will lose a lot from our Gross Domestic Product),” Coloma told reporters during a press briefing in Malacañang.

He said the government will address the threat of power shortage since any occurrence of brownouts could take its toll on the country’s economy.

Kung anu’t ano pa man ‘yan kinakailangan mismong sa panahon ng pangangailangan ay matutugunan ito dahil batid natin na tulad nga ng sinabi ng Pangulo sa maraming okasyon: ‘the most expensive power is no power’ (Whatever it is that we’ll need at that time will be addressed because we know–just like what the President said on numerous occasions–‘the most expensive power is no power’ ),” said Coloma.

The energy sector has projected a power shortage in the summer months of 2015.

Kung ano ang reyalidad na nakahain na diyan, ito ang magiging batayan para sa mga susunod na hakbang; at lahat ng hakbang na ito ay nilalaan natin para tiyakin na ang ating mga mamamayan ay hindi magdaranas ng kakulangan sa supply ng kuryente at ito ay matatamo nila sa resonableng halaga (Whatever reality that lies ahead will be the basis of our next step; and all these steps are laid out to assure our countrymen that there will be no power shortage and it will be attained with reasonable cost),” he added.
