Jinggoy asks Sandiganbayan to let him undergo medical check-up, physical therapy
M1ANILA — Detained Sen. Jinggoy Estrada on Monday asked the Sandiganbayan Fifth Division to allow him to undergo a series of medical check-up and physical therapy.
In his two-page motion to the anti-graft body, Estrada said he needs to undergo medical check-up at the Cardinal Santos Medical Center in San Juan City which he claims has his previous medical records.
Estrada is complaining of back pains for the past few days.
He said in his motion that he needs to undergo physical therapy three times a week which means he has to leave the PNP Detention Center frequently in order that his health condition could be monitored.
Medical prescription recommended by Dr. Tyrone Reyes of Cardinal Santos Medical Center, Estrada’s personal physician is attached in the motion.
Reyes claimed that Estrada needs special equipment like hydrocollator, ultrasound, transcutaneous nerve stimulation and cervical traction.
“As explained by Dr. Reyes, Senator Estrada needs to undergo a supervised therapy and program two to three times a week for two to four weeks that can be done in a sufficiently, equipped physical therapy department,” the motion read.
The needed equipment for the series of testing is not available at the PNP General Hospital.
Estrada is facing plunder case after allegedly receiving Php183 million kickbacks from a non-government organization controlled by pork barrel queen Janet Lim Napoles.
Estrada was inspired by the same motion filed earlier by Senator Bong Revilla before the Sandiganbayan First Division which allowed him to undergo an overnight check-up at the St. Luke’s Medical City in Taguig City.
