MANILA – Malacanang on Sunday said that they are not limiting the communication between the Filipino peacekeepers from Liberia and their families.

“Walang limitasyong ipinaiiral hinggil sa paggamit ng cellphone sa Caballo Island para sa may sariling gamit nito,” Communications Secretary Herminio Coloma Jr. said over state-run radio.

(No limitation is being implemented when it comes to using cellphones in Caballo Island, at least for those who own one.)

He added that those who do not own mobile units may use the cellphone assigned to their team.

However, to give fair access to everyone, those using the cellphones assigned to the unit, have to follow time restrictions.

The statement was made after a wife of one of the Filipino peacekeepers under quarantine told the Philippine Daily Inquirer that she failed to contact her husband regularly.

Meanwhile, the said peacekeepers will remain under quarantine in Caballo island to ensure that they are not infected by the Ebola virus.
