MANILA – The animal rights group People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals has released the nominees for this year’s “sexiest vegetarian” contest which included eight Filipinas.

Filipina model Amanda Griffin Jacob, named last year’s “sexiest vegetarian” in the Philippines, is included in the list with other past winners including actress-singer Geneva Cruz and Fil-German model Sandra Seifert.

The country’s representative in next year’s Miss Universe competition, Binibining Pilipinas winner, Mary Jean Lastimosa is also included in the list with singers Lougee Basabas and Nityalila Saulo.

Maricel Laxa-Pangilinan and Chin Chin Guitierrez were also nominated.

“When I was eating meat, I had a lot of digestive issues,” revealed Jacob, who first went vegetarian back in 2007.

“Now that I’m vegetarian, I feel wonderful both mentally and physically. Most importantly, I know I’m giving my children the best possible start in life,” she said.

The nominees will be competing with celebrities from different parts of the world.

Last year, the list of nominees also included famous Hollywood stars and icons including former U.S. President Bill Clinton and musicians Jason Mraz and Paul McCartney.
